Rance D. Dunmire Sept. 18,1933- Nov. 2, 2006

Retired United States Navy Capt. Rance D. Dunmire, 73, died Nov. 2, 2006.

Rance was born to George and Gladys Dunmire on Sept. 18, 1933, in Basin. He was a career U.S. Naval aviator, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was active with Volunteers in Mission. He was also active with Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society and a member of Model A and Model T Ford Clubs and several R.V. clubs.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo Dunmire; children, Brad (Darla) Dunmire of Pueblo, Colo.; Gail (Earl) Kirkwood of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Grant Dunmire of Denver; and a very special friend who is like a son, Doug Courson of Denver; siblings, Joe A. (Arlyne) Dunmire of Casper, Dr. I. Dale (Carlynn) Dunmire of Stockton, Calif., Belva (Chuck) Chapin of Boulder City, Nev. and Bob (Helene) Dunmire of Denver; and grandchildren, Katy (Brian) Frazier of Pueblo, Micah (Zac) Langston of Laramie, Holly Dunmire of Pueblo, Brady Kirkwood and Dana Kirkwood, both of Colorado Springs. There was no viewing and cremation has taken place.

Services were held Nov. 11, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. Full military honors followed the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society or Leukemia Society, through the funeral home. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com
