Galen E. Beardall Feb. 28, 1949—Dec. 15, 2006
Galen E. Beardall, a loving father and a businessman in Cody, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Galen was born Feb. 28, 1949 in Rexburg, Idaho to John and Dorothy Beardall. He graduated from Madison high School in Rexburg in 1967. While in high school he was active in the FFA and became state secretary, traveling a lot with the livestock judging team.
He then attended Ricks College for a year before marrying Vicki Waters. They divorced in 1987.
Galen worked for a sugar factory in Idaho for a time before joining the National Guard. He then went to work for Ray's Tires, where he was employed for a long while, starting a career in the tire business.
He was part of the National Guard when it was called for help in the Teton Dam flood disaster in 1976. He helped clean up and protect the area during the flood. He worked at Ray's Tire until 1984 when he moved to Wyoming and purchased Coombs' Tire in Powell. The tire business lasted in Powell for one and a half years before he went to work at Rimrock Tire in Cody. In 1997 he started his own business, Bear Tire Co., with his sons, where he was known and loved by many.
Galen was an avid fly fisherman, hiker, hunter and outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family on picnics and campouts. He loved to help and serve those around him. He was proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed playing with them and teaching them.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and always took pride in his family heritage. He was an honest man who enjoyed more than anything spending time with his family and friends and bringing a smile to their faces. He loved people and working with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy Beardall, a brother, Merwyn Beardall, sisters Darla, Rejean, Nada and Baby Beardall.
He is survived by sons Dallas (Courtney) Beardall, Justin (Jennifer) Beardall, Ryan (Heather) Beardall and a daughter, Shannon (Tony) Siebert. He is also survived by his brother, Darwin (Julie) Beardall, a sister, Myrna (Les) Van Orden, and grandchildren Zachary Beardall, Amber Beardall, Megan Beardall, Kate Beardall, Emmalee Beardall, Blake Beardall, Ricky Beardall, Reba Walker and Seth Siebert. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his dogs Milo and Otis.
There will be a short viewing at 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, before the funeral at 10 a.m. at the Wyoming Avenue Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A graveside service will follow at 9 a.m. on Dec. 22 at the Burton Cemetery in Rexburg, Idaho.
